RWANDA

Collaborative Trade Single Origin Coffee

Rwanda, the birthplace of the Drink Coffee. Do Good.™ story, with its high altitude and volcanic soil, grows some of the finest coffee in the world. Once a country ravaged by genocide, Rwanda is now a beacon of light to the world.

The Rwandan people are a shining example of forgiveness, reconciliation, and hope, despite the deepest of tragedies. Farmers continue to grow excellent coffee and communities are being transformed as we work together. The story continues to unfold and we invite you to be a part of it.

Collaborative Trade is a sustainable solution for poverty in coffee growing regions. We see coffee as our highway of trade into a community. From there, we have the opportunity to build relationships. Our Collaborative Trade model champions the direct needs of our partner farmers and their families while equipping them to be better coffee growers. When you buy Land of a Thousand Hills coffee, you help families provide for themselves, you build homes for orphans, give care to widows, and most importantly, give hope to coffee communities.

“It’s not just a transaction. You’re part of a community that invests in coffee farming villages to provide living wages, education, healthcare, and clean water, while celebrating the craft of specialty coffee. We honor the coffee farmer by perfecting the fruit of their labor in every step of the process.”

Murindabiguri Laurent

(Coffee Farmer)

Murindabiguri Laurent is a coffee farmer in the Mbilima region of Northern Rwanda. Mbilima has an elevation of 6,800 feet and coffee that is produced there is exceptional. Laurent began farming at the young age of 15 in the neighboring area and has been perfecting his craft ever since. He is now married with 7 children who are each able to attend school in the Mbilima region.

Laurent tells us that the coffee industry has made it possible for his children to receive an education. He explains that coffee has created a new prosperity for the entire Mbilima community and he is grateful for his partnership with Land of a Thousand Hills Coffee Co. This community impact is the core of what it means to Drink Coffee. Do Good.™
